    My name is Dorian Senkow and I am a Winnipeg based, newly married, Ukrainian Dancer that LOVES photography!  :)  My passion for photography started at an early age and since then has blossomed into a style that combines photojournalistic styles with some extra fun on the side!  I absolutely love capturing memories through the view finder.  Let me capture yours!

Merry Christmas!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

This VERY special time of year has been magnified for us with the addition of Brodie.  This Christmas is going to be a special and memorable one.  We have our tree decorated, our first annual ornament to signify the “three” of us…instead of just two, and many gifts under the tree for all of the special people in our lives!!  My camera battery is charging hard so that I can take oodles of pictures this weekend.  Guaranteed there will be many!  :)

Brodie had his very first picture taken with Santa when he was only 2 weeks old…he was such a little peanut then.  He is already growing.  He slept through the whole thing and I am sure that Santa didn’t mind one bit!  That had to have helped Brodie to get on his “Nice” list.  :)  I just love this little guy…

Ryan, Brodie and I just want to wish ALL of our Family, Friends and all of you a Very Special Christmas.  This is a time to show appreciation for those who truly make an impact in our lives.  We appreciate all of you.  Thank you for being a part of us.

Baby Senkow, thy name is Brodie.

He’s here!!  Well, actually he has been here for a whole 2 weeks already!  We had a bouncing baby boy on November 17th at 17:17.  (It’s true!!)  I only went 2 days overdue…and trust me those were a very long 2 days.  I am adjusting to the very new life of being a Mom.  There have been many challenges already but we are learning as we get to know our little guy.

I plan on making up a blog post shortly about Brodie’s birth story.  I have been wanting to do that as the first post, but those with babies know how hard it is to get away…even for a little bit.  :)  So please keep checking back to learn about how Brodie entered the world!!  The picture above was taken the morning after he was born.  It is one of my favourites.  It is amazing how different he looks already!

Baby Senkow Update ~ 40 Weeks…Ugh!!!

Today is my due date!!  Yeah right!!  It is late afternoon and I am sitting at my computer until I have to go into the city and run some errands.  It does not look like Baby Senkow is making its appearance today.  :(  I have had only Braxton Hicks Contractions but I have had those for the past 3 months!!  So my body is telling me that it is not time yet for this little one to come out.  The thing is that the baby doesn’t realize is that I AM THE MOMMY!!!  I decide what is best (at least for the next 18 years or so!!) and for this little one to not listen right now is making me wonder what I have got myself into.  :)  Ryan too is anxiously waiting…he is really looking forward to some time off of work!!

Forgive the crudeness of this photo…this was taken yesterday while I was killing time at home.  These days since the baby’s room is ready, and the bags are packed there is little for me to do these days.  See how that shirt of mine is stretching??!!??  Come on!!!!

I think that I look so huge now in comparison to what I looked like during my maternity photo session with 2 of my best gal pals.  Here are a few pics that my buddy Rebecca took.  I just LOVE these!!  She is going to be taking more pics of me and baby hopefully VERY soon!!  She is starting a new and very special project…and I am VERY honoured that she has asked me to be part of it!!  Luv ya girlie!!

If I make a “Baby Senkow ~ 41 Weeks” Post…I can’t guarantee that it is going to be as happy as this one.  Cross your fingers for me…PLEASE!!  :)

Our little Pumpkin is growing and growing…this obviously was taken on Halloween but as of today Baby Senkow is due in 6 days!!

But I am not going to lie…I hope that it comes sooner that that!!  :)

Baby Senkow Update ~ (Almost) 38 Weeks!!

The end is almost near!!  We are getting the room ready, I am washing clothes and getting the important gear ready!

A few weeks ago I met up with a couple of my closest friends, Jen of Jennifer Lee Photography and Rebecca of Rebecca Whitney Studios, for my very own Maternity shoot!!!  These days I am normally behind the camera.  But in my past I had spent a lot of time in front of the camera for various dancing events, festivals, promo photo shoots…  But those types of shoots are very posed (and cultural).  So I am comfortable, but it hard for me to be natural.  It helped sooooo much that of course it was with Ryan.  But if it wasn’t for my close friends behind the camera I know that these pictures wouldn’t have been as good and as special as they are.  I have posted the tough times that I have had with this pregnancy…the challenges, the discomfort, the pain.  But this session allows me to appreciate and remember the good moments.  Thank you so much Jen and Rebecca!  I love you guys!

These wonderful girls also threw me a Baby Shower with our close photography friends too.  I am so lucky to have such wonderful people in my life!!  Baby Senkow is also so lucky to have so many people that already love him/her before they even get to meet!  It is very special.  I have learned that I have to surround myself and Baby Senkow with those who love us.  Who respect us and want to support us.  I know that I will have to make changes in my life in the next short while…it will be hard, but it will be worth every little bit of it.
